1961   Born in Leipzig / Germany

Studied photography at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig (Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig), special studies under the professors Evelyn Richter and Arno Fischer

1988 - 1990  Postgraduate studies at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig (Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig)

1990   Postgraduate course communication design at the University of Duisburg-Essen (Gesamthochschule Essen) with professor Angela Neuke

Co-founder of the photo agency PUNCTUM Leipzig

since 1990 freelance photographer

1997   Winner of Kodak photo calendar contest

2003   Appointment to the German Academy of Photography

2005 - 2007 Lecturer in photography at FAS Berlin

Founding member of the "Internationale Akademie für Fotografie e.V." in Berlin

Lecturer in photography at the "Neue Schule für Fotografie" Berlin

2011 "Best photograph of the 54th International Art Exhibition” at the Venice Biennale

2013 European architecture photo award from Architekturbild e.V. Germany           

Lives and works in Leipzig and Berlin
